These should be easy to incorporate provided you are motivated enough to take a step towards becoming healthier.

  1. A good place to start is to get on a food/diet tracking app– fix your daily calorie intake and keep feeding in what you eat throughout the day. It’s a good way to monitor your intake and keep yourself in check.

Tip: I’ve found the ‘MyFitnessPal’ app and the ‘lose it’ app to be extremely effective.

 

  1. Workout 4-6 times a week– If possible pick up a sport or go for a run/ a brisk walk to a nearby park every morning, your body needs to excrete the toxins and you need to sweat it out. This will not only help you looking and feeling strong, healthy but also keep you mentally alert.

  1. Have a good wholesome breakfast – include protein, carbs, fruit and nuts in your breakfast every single day. An example of an ideal breakfast would be a bowl of sprouts/egg whites with a slice of bread, a glass of fresh juice and 5 soaked almonds. This will give you the nutrition and energy to power through the day. Lunch can be a medium sized home cooked meal followed by a very light dinner – a soup and salad should suffice.

  1. Never go to bed immediately after eating your dinner. Always walk for at least 10mins after dinner and before you retire for the day. This will aid digestion, burn the excess carbs and help you sleep better.

Snack Healthy: Snacking is something that we all know we mustn’t do but that evil time in the evening between 5-6 pm when you are at work and you crave for junk, stop yourself and opt for something healthy like cut vegetables with dip, a light lettuce, tomato and cucumber sandwich, vegetable bhel or fruit chaat.

But there is a trick that can be followed, try going out in groups, apart from the additional fun you can try different things on the menu and share. Basically having small bites of different things is a better choice than having a heavy dish all by yourself. Follow this only when you don’t want to have the usual grilled fish/ chicken or salad and soup for dinner.

  1. If you have to have alcohol choose the better evil, opt for red wine instead of your high sugar fruity cocktail or beer. But if you decide to have a drink of your choice, then nurse on one drink and enjoy it for a longer time. This not only keeps your calories in check but is friendly on your pocket too.
